Charity

A great number of people do not realise that Freemasonry is
one of the biggest donors to charity next to the National
Lottery.  The Master of the lodge, during his year of office
nominates which charity he would like donations to go to,
usually it is the Masonic charities we support.  But the
Masters list can nominate other charities for example, cancer
charities, hospices and children's charities etc.

The London Freemasons Charity (Formerly The Metropolitan
Masonic Charity)

I
n 2016 £2 million was donated towards a new helicopter for
the London Air Ambulance service.  The Metropolitan Grand
Master handed over a cheque for £250,000 as a starting
gesture to some of the crew who gave a talk at the annual
meeting of Metropolitan Grand lodge in 2014 and another for
£750,000 in 2015 already breaking the halfway mark within a
year.
In 2017 The MMC donated £100,000 to the Grenfell Tower
Block fire tragedy to help the families.

For 2018 the MMC will raise £2.5 million to purchase two
extended high rise aerial vehicles for the London Fire Brigade
this will allow access to 22 to 24 storeys, far higher than
anything currently in operation.  The first installment of
£375,000 was donated to members of the London Fire
Brigade at the last meeting of Metropolitan Grand Lodge. A
further £875,000 was donated to members of the London Fire
Brigade by the Metropolitan Grand Master at the last meeting
of Metropolitan Grand lodge last November thereby
completing half the target of 1.25 million donated.
